Dr. Who Daleks Talk, Tell Time

dalek.jpg

"Dr. Who" fans can now rule the planet with the 13" Talking Dalek. Remote controlled, it moves pretty much as it does in the show and makes happy robot sounds.

The bot also comes in a smaller 2.5" version and a Sculpted Wall Clock.

Too Expensive, Will Robinson!

b9bot.JPG

How cool would it be to find this under (or near) your tree this year? The 6 1/2 ft., 275 lb. B-9 Robot from "Lost in Space" has been reproduced from archival molds, patterns and blueprints. Running on remote control, it features a 240W audio system and the voice of Richard Tufeld, who did the original. He will move his torso, his head flashes and he has those claws that made him somewhat creepy. All this can be yours for $24,500.00.

Must Have: Astro Boy Comes to the Cinema

"Astro Boy" is about to fly into in a theater near you. The film debuts October 23 and some of the voices featured are Freddie Highmore, Kristen Bell, Nathan Lane, Eugene Levy, Charlize Theron and Nicholas Cage. A kind of modern-day Pinnochio, the trailer looks good but this version doesn't seem to have the charm of the original.

Must Have: Happy Birthday, Doraemon

doragoogle.jpg

Google Japan celebrated the birthday of Doraemon last week, the country's robot cat who can bend time and transform matter. The feline is so popular that plans for a movie is in the works dubbed "Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Great Battle of the Mermaid King."

We admit he is pretty cute and if you would like to partake in the belated festivities (his birthday is listed as Sept. 3, 2012) we suggest a Doraemon DVD marathon with the complete collection boxset (with English subtitles.). It contains 8 DVDs with 72 episodes.

Bender00.jpgPiratebot01.jpg

Included in his collection is the articulated Bender Bending Rodríguez (Bending Unit 22) from "Futurama" and Pirate-Bot who oozes masculinity in spite of the fact that he dons a parrot and a pink shirt. Visit his site to see his entire collection of Kritches.

My Doraemon Makes Debut

doraemon.jpg

A real "My Doraemon" is now available in Japan for those who are fans of the robot cat. Although it cannot walk, it does have a 1,300 word vocabulary to carry on a conversation, but you had better know Japanese. ePaper eyes interact and its expression changes. With built-in heat and light sensors, it can also track movement and note temperature changes and, if you turn off a light, it will tell you goodnight. Doraemon will set you back ¥30,000 to 40,000 (~$375.00) and is available for pre-order now.
